What Is Laser Hair Removal Like?

Before the treatment, the treatment areas will be covered in numbing lotion. Then, a handheld laser device will be pressed to the skin so its intense beam of light can target the hair follicles without damaging the skin. The patient might feel a little pinprick, along with a cooling sensation from the gel.

The duration of the treatment depends on the size of the target area. Removing hair from the upper lip only takes a few minutes, while treating the back might take an hour or so.

What Is Aftercare Like?

No recovery or downtime is required. There might be slight swelling and redness for a few hours after the treatment. If you feel discomfort, use ice on the area as directed.

After treatments, stay away from the sun and tanning beds for six weeks or so. Apply SPF 30 sunscreen every day.
