Am I a Candidate for IPL?
Candidates for IPL must be in good health and realistic in their expectations for treatment. One of the skin rejuvenation experts at Platinum Medical Spa can determine if IPL is the optimal treatment option for you by meeting with you for a consultation.
Your consultation will include an assessment of your skin concerns and a conversation about your medical history and goals for treatment. You will also be able to ask any questions you may have about your treatment options.
IPL is most effective in patients with lighter skin tones. However, with proper pre-and post-treatment protocols, IPL can be used on patients with a wide range of skin types. Patients with certain inflammatory skin conditions may also require pre- and post-treatment skincare protocols or may be better candidates for an alternative treatment approach.

How Does IPL Work?
Though IPL and laser skin treatments both transmit light energy to the skin, there are significant differences between the two procedures. The Alma IPL is not a laser, it uses a series of intense flashes of light to increase collagen formation, break up pigment in the epidermis, remove superficial blood vessels, and improve the overall tone, texture, and pore size of the skin.
The light energy delivered during an IPL treatment consists of multiple wavelengths of light that turn into heat as it is absorbed by your skin’s pigment cells. The treated pigment is destroyed by heat energy without damaging the outer layer of your skin.
