Newport Coast IPL
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) sometimes called photorejuvenation or photofacial, is a skin treatment and is commonly used to improve a wide range of skin problems including: sun damage, wrinkles, stretch marks, and age spots.
Our IPL Newport Coast equipment is manufactured by Osyris Medical and can be used as a stand-alone treatment or may be used in conjunction with other treatments such as Botox, Juvederm or our other laser treatments to help give you the individual results you are trying to achieve.
Come sit with us for a complimentary consultation to see how we might best be able to sculpt out an IPL treatment plan that is right for you.
IPL is indicated for the following conditions:
- Superficial vascular lesions
- Flushing and redness
- Poikiloderma (red neck)
- Redness following laser skin resurfacing
- Brown spots ( sun spots, age spots, liver spots)
- Pigmented lesions
- Red or brown scars
The Prolite II is not a laser, it uses a series of intense flashes of light to increase collagen formation, break-up pigment in the epidermis, remove superficial blood vessels and improve the overall tone, texture and pore size of the skin.
1. How does it work on vascular and pigmented lesions?
The pulsed light emits wavelengths that are absorbed by vascular and pigmented lesions in multiple levels of the skin. When the light is absorbed by the melanin in the brown spots and the hemoglobin in the veins and red spots, the lesions are gently heated and destroyed.
2. What areas can be treated?
The Prolite II procedure can be performed on the face, neck, decolletage and hands.
3. How long does the procedure take?
It depends on the area being treated. It typically takes about 30 minutes. Allow an additional 15-20 minutes if topical numbing cream is being applied.
4. Is it painful?
You will experience a slight sensation as the pulses of therapeutic light are passed over your skin. The sensation is mild and well tolerated by many in Orange county. However, topical numbing creams are available for anyone who wishes to use them.
5. What kind of results can I expect?
Visible signs of aging and sun damage will be significantly reduced. There is an overall improvement in the skin’s texture, tone, and color.
6. Are there any side effects to IPL Newport Coast?
The vascular and pigmented lesions will be darker in appearance for 5-7 days. These darker areas will gradually slough off with after your photofacial and return to regular skin care; however, microdermabrasion also works well for this purpose.
7. How many treatments will I need?
A series of four treatments of Orange County IPL is usually required for optimal results in Orange County. Maintenance treatments are recommended every 6-12 months to preserve your results.
